Lethal Haberl 16 January 2018Let it breathe!!After watching Holden V8's spit there cork gaskets and oil everywhere at the track, my P is getting a big hole to stop crankcase pressure causing leaks.

Neville HumpherysI think I'd run it threw a catch can.Lethal HaberlI did think about it , but for the street , the big blue catch can on top of the carby will doNeville HumpherysSuppose it depends how heavy the motor is breathing. For the street it'll be fine, but for the track i reckon you'll need a can.Andrew KluteSounds like a rebuild is in order if it’s breathing that muchJames Leonard GarrodI'm not sure of the laws in other states but it is illegal to use an aftermarket catch can On a street car in NSW.Tim BentleyCan you describe what your doing here Lethal Haberl ?Lethal HaberlWhen you drive with purpose, spiritedly , the pcv valve shuts under low vacuum and blowby gasses fill the crankcase, the gases exit the crankcase via the little tiny hole in the rocker cover, enter the carby and get burnt. It's my track experience that the hole needs to be large ( preferably on both rocker covers) and I am using a Holden breather / filter to put the gasses back on the outside of the air filter assembly .The crankcase pressure is lowered and the engines leaks are reduced. CheersTim Bentley Lethal Haberllove it, thanks mate. Will do the same on my p and dolly sprint.Adam WoodwardsSomething to watch for on rover rocker covers. The std p76 ones vent really well from the oil filler cap, the rover ones dont.Neville Humpherys I'll have to find the photo of the valley we destroyed by not breathing the block enough.Adam WoodwardsI spat the front crank seal out and pushed the valley cover against the bottom of the inlet manifold Neville HumpherysYep inverted the valley at Lakeside.Ryan FordIs this only under extreme conditions?I'm running Rover rockers and don't fancy blowing seals or valley covers!James WebbBlowing trannys, blowing seals. OMG lol.James Leonard GarrodArr, let 'em go - they're just venting......
